My 2013 cmax hybrid has recently started making a high pitch whining when it starts and every time it goes to electric. I used to hardly even know it was on but now I do. When stopped it actually slightly jumps when switching to gas. Why?

You could have a loose or worn belt!

If the sound changes with speed/RPM it is a bearing in case of the engine could a pulley.
