By reading dozens of reviews of the C-Max from Europe, it looks like the C-Max is getting great marks. Different market here though, and I am wondering if the C-Max can replace or be a substitute for a minivan?

I

I would say no. The C-Max might be a little to small in terms of interior room to replace or compete with traditional mini-vans. Maybe if Ford brought over the S-Max, that would be competitive.

Americans are all about bigger being better and having lots of interior space but also in the same sentence the more expensive gas gets maybe the more we will see a replacement for the minivan...who knows. Time tells all.

I think the c-max has a good shot at replacing it or at least coming close to.

The look has a family look yet still classy enough not to be just for a family

We are trading in a 08 Grand Caravan for the C-MAX. The kids are grown and the wife wants something smaller with better gas mileage. During the test drive the CMax drove very well and the acceleration was much better than I thought it would be. Over time we'll see if it has the room needed for everyday things for two people.

I am in the same boat. I needed something smaller than a mini-van, and this vehicle is perfect.  Everybody has different needs. That's why Ford is making our decisions so much harder, by offering so many options. But we forgive them. :hysterical:

I don't think that the C-MAX can replaced the minivan in terms of the Sienna, Caravan, Quest, etc.

According to sales figures through, the C-MAX is a success.

I replaced an 08 Escape.  I was kicking myself at the time I bought it for not getting the hybrid Escape.  I am glad I waited.  I love the new body style.  As a gigging musician, I took my keyboard case, amp/speaker, stand, bench, trap case and tall fan to the dealer and made sure my gear would fit before purchase.  It all went in, no problem.  As I have aged, I travel lighter than in the days of the full-size E150 and hauling the 300# plus Hammond B3, leslie, keyboards, amps, speakers, etc.

I like the new vehicle interior room.  The front seat area is larger than the 08 Escape.

Whats funny to me about this thread is when I test drove the Cmax, all I could think about it is it reminds me of a mini van.

4,310 sold in December.  I'm not sure that this means that the C-Max has replaced the minivan, but it does show confidence in Ford's latest product.  :dogwalk:

Going from a 2008 F-250 to a cmax, I can say there is plenty of room. You can't haul a 8' 2x4 though, but I'll find a way!
